How to Clean Stinky Shoes
Let’s face it, stinky shoes can be embarrassing and can make a room or even an entire house smell terrible. Fortunately, it’s fairly easy to get rid of the smell. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Prepare the Shoes
- Take out laces – start by pulling the laces out of your shoes.
- Brush dirt and debris – use a brush to remove any dirt and debris from the shoes.
- Allow to air out – once you’ve brushed away the dirt and debris, leave the shoes to air out for 8-10 hours.
Step 2: Sprinkle Baking Soda
- Sprinkle baking soda – generously sprinkle baking soda into both shoes, making sure to cover as much of the surface as possible.
- Leave baking soda overnight – leave the baking soda in the shoes overnight; this will help to absorb any odour.
Step 3: Clean the Shoes
- Wash with warm soapy water – fill a bucket with warm soapy water and submerge the shoes in it; use a brush to remove any dirt and debris that is still on the shoes.
- Rinse with water – after washing, make sure to rinse the shoes with clean, cool water to remove any soap residue.
- Allow to air dry – the final step is to leave the shoes to air dry in a cool, dry place.
By following the steps above, your stinky shoes should be back to smelling fresh in no time.
