How to do a smokey eye makeup?

Step by Step Guide to Achieving The Perfect Smokey Eye Look

Smokey eyes makeup is a classic look that can give you a chic, glamorous and dramatic look. It can be daunting to perfect the look for the first time, but with the right products and techniques, it’s easy to achieve a sexy sultry eye.

Step 1: Prime the Eyes

Start off by preparing your eye area for makeup application by priming it. This will create an even surface to apply your eyeshadows on, ensuring that it will stay on for longer and will not smudge.

Step 2: Applying Your Base Color

Choose two eyeshadows, one lighter shade and one darker one. Use a fluffy eyeshadow brush and pat the lighter shade on your eyelid. Start from the inner corner of your eye and bring it outwards. Blend it in a way that it fades slightly into your crease.

Step 3: Deepen the Crease

Using the same fluffy brush, dip the brush into the dark eyeshadow. Starting from the outer part of your eye, gently blend it into the crease. Make sure to blend the eyeshadow in an outward motion to create a seamless transition between the light and dark shades.

Step 4: Shaping The Smokey Eye

Take a finer brush and dip it into the dark shade. Starting from the outer corner, trace the eyeshadow along your Lash line and blend it with the eyeshadow in the crease. Now, use the same eyeshadow on the lower lash line. Then use the light eyeshadow and blend it directly above the dark eyeshadow to create a smooth transition.

Step 5: Finishing Off

To get a more intense smokey eye, use a black liner and line your upper and lower lash lines. Then finish off the look by curling your lashes and adding mascara.

Tips and Tricks For Achieving The Perfect Smokey Eye Look

  • Choose the right products: Pick shades that suit your skin tone, and use pigmented and blendable eyeshadows.
  • Blend properly: The key for a successful smokey eye look is blending. Use circular motions and go back and forth to create a seamless transition between the light and dark shades.
  • Use a pencil or Cream Eyeshadow: You can use a black or dark color pencil or cream eyeshadow for the lash line for a more intense look.
  • Go easy on the eyeliner: A smokey eye should have soft edges, so use smudges of eyeliner and blend it with an eyeshadow brush to create a softer finish.
