Game of Thrones Season 5 – A Recap
Game of Thrones had another amazing season, with plenty of shocking moments, as well as a few exciting new storylines. Here’s a look back at the big moments from season five.
The Great War Arrives
The final two episodes of Season 5 saw the big confrontation between Jon Snow, Stannis Baratheon, and the enemies from Beyond The Wall. The War of Five Kings had been promised for several seasons, and viewers were treated to a stunningly epic battle. In the end, Stannis is defeated, but Jon Snow comes away triumphant with the Wildlings at his back.
Cersei’s Walk of Shame
One of the most talked-about scenes of the season was Cersei’s walk of shame through the streets of King’s Landing. After being caught in the act of adultery with both Lancel and the High Sparrow, Cersei was made to publicly atone for her sin. An on-looking crowd jeers and throws filth at her as she makes her way. It was a moment that made viewers gasp in both shock and horror.
Daenerys Becomes the Dragon Queen
Daenerys completes her transformation when she manages to fly away from Meereen on the backs of her dragons. Although her escape was necessary in order to survive, it also served as a sign that she was now fully in control of the beasts. As she flies away, it is obvious to everyone watching that Dany is no longer just a slave, but rather is now the rightful ‘Dragon Queen’ of the Seven Kingdoms.
The White Walkers’ Attack
The season 5 finale was capped off with a shocking reveal: the White Walkers are finally making their move against the realm. An army of skeletal ice zombies led by the Night King storm the wall, overwhelming Jon Snow’s army and leaving only one chance for survival: make a run for Hardhome. This area has long been a refuge for the Wildlings, but it may not be safe much longer. The White Walkers are coming, and the battle for Westeros is only just beginning.
